Total the rows and the columns of a table

80%
SUM

A range can run across a row just as easily as down a column: B2:D2 is three cells side by side. Nothing about SUM changes.

Totalling both directions gives you a free check. If the sum of the row totals does not match the sum of the column totals, something is missing from one of your ranges, and it is almost always a range that starts or stops one cell short.

Total each row in E2:E5 and each column in B6:D6, then the grand total in E6.
